'Princess Trainer' review

The latest Gold Edition of “Princess Trainer” was released to the public on March 20, and that marks the end of multiple years of development of the game. The game has gone through a lot of iterations over time with some characters having their scenes extended due to their popularity, such as Iris, while other scenes were cut in order to make room for more developed storylines for other characters, especially those concerning Lola. But it's finally done and no more updates are in the works.

I don't generally review adult games, (largey due to Blogger's negative stance toward adult content) but if you're interested in non-smut game reviews, check out Let's Game. I also try to include walkthroughs for smut games on there whenever possible; some of the quest walkthroughs for "Princess Trainer" are over there as they contain no smut.

If this review, and the coming walkthroughs turn out popular, I may start reviewing adult games more regularly.

In “Princess Trainer” the player takes on the role of a slave trainer hired by Jafar to train Princess Jasmine to become the perfect wife for him. The game is sure to appeal to people who want a smut game focused around BDSM, slave and master training and bimbofication. The art style has a smutty Disney feel to fit the storyline and the animations through the game are mostly well-done. But “Princess Trainer” is not without its faults.

The biggest fault the game has is that it's incredibly grindy. Before the player can proceed with the smut content of the game it's necessary to send Jasmine out to work for many, many days in order to collect enough money to carry on with the story. While some wait can make for good gameplay, an excessive wait makes for grindy gameplay and really bad smut appeal.

“Princess Trainer” is no where near as much of a grind as Akabur's “Witch Trainer,” but the Gold Edition has definitely increased the grind from the older game by adding new things that need purchased but not adding more effective ways to make money in the early game. And that's not even counting the challenges, which are even more grinding to complete.

To go on with gameplay related issues, quest instructions are often extremely vague leading a player to just go random places over and over, either with Jasmine or without her, to see if a scene will finally play. Lucky for everyone, I put together a quest walkthrough you can find here.

Moving on from gameplay, the characters themselves have some problems. Princess Jasmine was once the star of the game, but has taken a backseat to original characters in the Gold Edition. Jasmine becomes a bland-by-comparison way to grind to make money to pay to do the quests for the other girls instead of the focus of the game. That doesn't gel well with the title being “Princess Trainer.”

Further, the player doesn't even train Princess Jasmine. The player actually just forces Jasmine to work some days and then attend the Jafar Slave Girl Academy on other days after she's earned enough to attend classes. The school trains her and the player simply has various sex scenes with her that show how she's becoming more submissive as she attends more classes.

Worst of all, Jasmine's stats don't affect anything except how she acts in her bedroom and in unlocking the various sex scenes. The game seems to have a linear story prepared, where Princess Jasmine acts snobby and rebellious at first, then gradually becomes more willing to be a slave, but the game allows the player to access scenes in a variety of orders that make her personality seem to be all over the place. This could have even fixed by simply streamlining the story to only take place in a specific order. As it is, it ends up looking like the player should get their money back from the Academy for poor training.

In the original game both of these Jasmine-related issues stood out less as a problem because there was less content to get out of order and it was the focus of the game. Force Jasmine to work, force her to attend school, have sex with her and then send her out into public to do unspeakably lewd acts that make the population of Agrabah hate her. In the Gold Edition of “Princess Trainer” this lackluster gameplay for the princess stands out like a sore thumb because there's a much more indepth and interactive method of training one of the original characters, a bar waitress named Iris.

The scenes training Iris to enjoy public nudity, humiliation and the player's choice of lewd acts are guaranteed to be enjoyable to anyone who likes the idea of slave training, humiliation and bimbofication. The problem with this is, it's the type of indepth content that should have been given to the title character.

There's also Lola, another original character who can move into the player's household. Like Jasmine, she just goes to the Slave Girl Academy during the day, though there is a slightly different story reason for doing it. Sadly, this story reason was somewhat disturbing in the middle of a bunch of smut content. Essentially, if someone's not into a grown woman acting like a petulant child crying during sex, they're not going to enjoy the start of Lola's training quest. It can certainly put an unexpected and sudden damper on any lewd mood a player may have had going.

And finally there's Azalea, another original character who is the local seamstress. Her mother may have been selling more than dresses out of her store long ago. Like Iris, her content overshadows both Jasmine and Lola for how indepth it is and for allowing the player a measure of control over activities. After assisting Azalea with her store, making it bigger and more grand so that it draws more and richer customers, Azalea reveals her mother's past and the player has the option, through various scenes, to push her to become the town whore or remain fairly chaste (for a smut game) and only interested in giving special services to the player.
